On such a spot Byzantion had grown rapidly and had become an important harbour city. because of this bright rise, the city had been abused by Persians and Greek City States continuously. They had remained autonomous untill Emperor Septimus Severius then Byzantion had become the Roman Bysantium at 2nd century AD.
The history had bee reritten on AD 330 after the declarion of the city as the capital for Roman empire by Emperor Constantynos. Then Roma had fallen and Nova Rome or Constantinople had rised. This was the start of the problems and break apart of east and west. When justiniaus had constructed the biggest Basilica Hagia Sophia, the Roman Churh and Patriarchy had broken the last bindings. In 1054 Ad The Pope had nathemized all the Eastern Christians. That was the strict diversification of Catholic and Orthodox world. In 1204 the cith had been conquered by the western crusaders, when they had left the city in 1262 AD not much had left from this rich dream city.
An in 1453 Constantiyye as Ottomans named it had been captured after two months of siege, because the city was tired and lonely after all. The Ottoman Empire had done almost everything for the city to turn back the bright days. They opened their arms and doors all the Rumens and Spanish Jews. They had supported trade routes Silk Road and Spice Road.
After 700 years of glorious empire days after the big war or the 1st world war the bas for the new republic was getting set. Finally in 1923 the Republic of Turkey has been formed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
It is not very charming that we came up with a city of traffic and problems after such a history like fairy tale.
