Transportation facilities in Istanbul Travel from the airport..

We have several options for city transportation. Busses, shuttles (dolmuş), trams, metro ( this is light city mero nothing to do with underground. Actually it never goes under the ground at all.), merobus, train, boats, mini boats, ferry, sea taxi, taxi and air taxi. You can choose any of them in conformity wity your budget or depending on the destination.
The heart of Istanbul at least fort he foreign visitors is Taksim. So in my writing I will accept Taksim as the center that means how you can move to taksim or get away from there, that varries.
From Atatürk Airport to Taksim.
The best and easiest way is to use HAVAS shuttle bus around 6-7 Euros it takes you from the airport to Taksim. You can travel with metro. It is easy, well relatively easy, to use and you do not suffer from traffic at all. If you arrive around rush hour and too many luggages choose metro. You can take tokens to travel with metro from boxes. You can find a video on this in my blog. You can arrive to the metro station right indide the arrivals part of the airport. Follow the signs, take your token and enjoy it. You must change this line in Zeytinburnu or Aksaray. Zeytinburnu is easier to change in Aksaray you have to walk for a while. After changing you will exit in the last stop Kabataş. Kabataş is right below Taksim Square by the sea side. You can not walk to Taksim sof rom the metro station, downstairs take Finiküler, it is another sub metro that takes you to Taksim. Do not setle that musch when you get on because it is only 1 stop trip and takes less than 1 minute. And you are in Taksim Square.
Another way is to take a taxi. Now I am telling you about the myths and the realities on the famous airpot taxi. They can not charge you extra, there is nothing like negotiation on taxi fare ( well you can do it but I am not sure who wins) yes there are bad guys amongst them. How to prevent from overcharging? Actually very simple. Take the taxi, sit in the front seat, tell him turn on the taximeter and check it is on; there must mw some numbers on it openning charge then pay hpw musch it is written at the destination. If the fare is getting over 80 TL aorund 40 Euros warn him why he is hanging around. There are no night or day difference in taxis so in the night or day time the same fare will be applied.
The fare to Taksim may be between 75-90 TL depending on traffic but no more. After your arrivel to your hotel you can easily use bu sor dolmuş to any destination . If you do not get of somewhere in between almost there is no chance to loose. You can ask anyone to help you if you get lost. We love to help people especially if they are foreigners.
